Salisbury, Maryland Man Facing Gun Charges After Traffic Stop

During the early morning hours of July 20th, Salisbury Police arrested and charged a 36-year-old Salisbury man with possession of a loaded handgun.

On July 20, 2019, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Salisbury Police officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Lake Street and W. Salisbury Parkway (Rt. 50). During the course of the investigation, a loaded .22 caliber, semi-automatic, Smith and Wesson handgun was located within the vehicle, according to police. One of the occupants of the vehicle was identified as 36-year-old Rashaan Abdul Evans who was placed under arrest for possession of the loaded handgun.

Upon further investigation, Evans was determined to be a prohibited person who should not be in possession of firearms. Evans was transported to Wicomico County Detention Center where he is currently being held without bond.

At the time of the traffic stop, the handgun was found not to be stolen. Officers are continuing their investigation into how Evans came to be in possession of the handgun. Evans is facing the following charges: Handgun in vehicle and possession of a regulated firearm as a prohibited person.
