Pickering Creek
July 1st, 2007 at 08:26 pm by Alan in The LandPickering Creek Audubon Center is dedicated to community-based conservation of natural resources through environmental education and outreach on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay. The Center’s property features a variety of habitats including mature hardwood forest, fresh and brackish marsh, meadow, tidal and non-tidal wetlands, over a mile of shoreline on a tidal creek, and cropland. Two hundred and seventy acres are devoted to low impact “best management practice” agriculture. The farmed acreage of Pickering Creek is its link to the significant farming heritage of the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

Eastern Shore Land Conservancy
July 1st, 2007 at 08:13 pm by Alan in The LandThe Eastern Shore Land Conservancy works to sustain the Eastern Shore’s rich landscapes through strategic land conservation and sound land use planning. Founded in 1990, Eastern Shore Land Conservancy is a private, nonprofit organization working to protect land and promote sound land use planning on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. We have protected more than 38,000 acres by working closely with hundreds of landowners, and helped towns and counties make plans for the Shore’s future that truly reflect the values and needs of its residents.
