Although the website is pitiful, the town is wonderful. I am a bit biased as this has been my home town for about 20 years. The town is just beginning a period of unprecedented new growth, but hopefully will retain it’s small town charm. Trappe’s claim to fame is that is the birthplace of Baseball Hall of Famer Frank “Home Run” Baker.

The town of Federalsburg is located on the Marshyhope Creek in the southern-most part of Caroline County, the heart of the Eastern Shore of Maryland, which has long been known for being a land of hospitable and gracious living. It is blessed with easy access to the Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean. Visitors to the area can find ocean resorts, deep sea fishing and an abundance of wildlife nearby. They may also enjoy fresh seafood from local waters and famous Maryland fried chicken from local growers in the poultry capitol of the world.

The beauty of the Eastern Shore and its waterways, the opportunity for boating and recreation, the tranquillity of a rural setting, and the ambiance of living history offer both visitors and residents a variety of pleasing experiences. A wealth of events and local entertainment makes a visit to Chestertown special at any time of the year and there are numerous accommodations in the area to make one’s stay a memorable one. For those who are looking for an alternative to the traffic, pollution and aggravations of urban/suburban living, and a place to raise families or retire in the security and relaxed pace of a lovely small town, Chestertown affords a rare resettlement opportunity.

Chesapeake City’s historic area is on the National Historic Registry, as well as Maryland’s Historic Registry. The town has many restored historic homes, shops and galleries, featuring hand-painted originals and prints, antiques, collectibles, clothing, gifts and crafts. Additional sights include the Canal Museum, art galleries, summer concerts, boat tours, and tours of the nearby horse country. There are also many fine restaurants and bed and breakfasts and transient and seasonal boat dockage availability. Chesapeake City’s Victorian charm has been featured in several national magazines, including Travel & Liesure, Coastal Living and Southern Living. Convenient to several large cities on the east coast, this historic village on the banks of the C&D Canal is a favorite spot for those seeking a weekend getaway or a vacation retreat.
